20 Nov Ministry Of Health And IJN Sign MoU For Cardiovascular Prevention CME Program
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 – The Government of Malaysia, through the Ministry of Health (MOH), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) to launch a Cardiovascular Prevention Continuous Medical Education (CME) Program. The signing ceremony, held today at IJN in Kuala Lumpur, was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Dr. Muhammad Radzi bin Abu Hassan, Director-General of Health, and YBhg. Datuk Dr. Norhayati binti Rusli, Deputy Director-General of Health (Public Health), representing the MOH.
IJN was represented by Prof Datuk Sri Dr Mohamed Ezani Md Taib, Chief Executive Officer, and Datuk Akmal Arief bin Mohamed Fauzi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Key figures present included Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Deputy Minister of Health, and Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Chairman of IJN.
This collaboration aims to deliver structured training for healthcare professionals in both public health clinics and private practices, focusing on cardiovascular prevention and the management of non-communicable diseases like dyslipidemia, diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. It supports the MOH’s goal to enhance primary healthcare, as outlined in the Malaysian Health White Paper, particularly in strengthening public-private partnerships and improving healthcare delivery.
The Cardiovascular Prevention CME Program will run for three years, with Phase 1 consisting of 10 online training modules over one year. Phase 2 will involve case presentations, discussions, forums, and field visits over the following two years. The program targets family medicine specialists, medical officers, private practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, dietitians, and physiotherapists. This initiative will support the establishment of Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Clinics (CRRC) within communities, contributing to the broader goal of reducing cardiovascular risk in Malaysia.
